Size: Two-storey complex featuring a 25m eight-lane main pool, learner and shallow pools, 120-station gym, immersive spin studio, fitness and wellness studios, and two squash courts.
Project Requirements
The project was initially put out for tender, and Britannia Fire & Security successfully secured the contract following a competitive negotiation process.
The client required a complete suite of fire and security systems for the new-build facility, ensuring full compliance, safety, and integration across all building systems.

Work Undertaken
Fire Alarm System
We installed an analogue addressable GENT 4-loop panel with over 250 devices. The system was fully integrated with the building’s management system (BMS), roller shutters, music system, public address, access control, gas systems, lifts, and automatic doors.

Intruder Alarm
A Honeywell Galaxy Grade 3 system was installed, incorporating over 80 devices to deliver robust protection and monitoring for the site.

Access Control
A Paxton Net2 system was fitted across 16 access-controlled doors.
A standout feature of this project was our bespoke “Jack & Jill Interlock” system. This innovative solution enhances both privacy and safety in the changing room areas. When occupied, an external light indicates the room is in use, and the maglock remains engaged. In an emergency, authorised staff can override the lock via keypad access. The occupant can also use internal emergency buttons for safe egress.

CCTV System
We deployed 62 Hikvision cameras, both internal and external, including PTZ models. The system ensures comprehensive monitoring for safety and security across the facility.

Disabled Refuge
A C-Tec SigTEL system was installed, allowing occupants requiring assistance to communicate with staff during an emergency.

Public Address System
An Elite Audio PA system was installed, comprising over 100 speakers across 13 zones. This allows for clear announcements across individual areas or the entire building.
Timeline
The project was completed over an 8-month period.
- First Fix: Over 15,000 metres of cabling installed, including FP200, 8-core, and Belden types.
- Second Fix & Commissioning: All systems were configured, tested, and integrated before final handover.
Every system was fully commissioned, tested, and handed over to a satisfied client, meeting Britannia Fire & Security’s commitment to quality and reliability.
Results & Impact
One of our most successful parts of the project was Britannia Fire & Security Limited’s input to the bespoke “Jack & Jill Interlock” by where we took our clients request and made it happen, providing bespoke lights which were utilised to inform those outside of the changing room that the room is either occupied or vacant, and tying this in with the safety and security. It offers a point of not only communication by use of lights, but security for the person within the changing room as they are able to identify the room is locked for their privacy and others are aware of this too.
Further reassurance is provided as staff are able to gain access in the event of an emergency by use of a keypad. The occupant within the room also has two emergency buttons that they can utilise to allow for free egress too.
