An historic on-call fire station had a £1 million redevelopment to equip the crew with state-of-the-art facilities. As part of the re-furbishment Britannia Fire & Security were selected to install a fire alarm and intruder detection system within the premises. Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue service made the investment into the Yaxley Fire station to better accommodate the requirements of a modern on-call fire station. A lecture room, office, welfare facilities and bay with space for a fire engine were all included in the development together with a new smoke house training facility.

Installation of Fire Alarm System
Britannia Fire & Security were employed to supply and install a site wide fire alarm system to protect the new office areas and the appliance bay. An intruder alarm system was also included to protect the whole area.
The Fire Alarm equipment comprised automatic and manual detection throughout the site manufactured by Gent by Honeywell. Britannia Fire & Security are a Gent Elite System Integrator.
Integrated Intruder Alarm
The Intruder Alarm equipment comprised of internal motion detectors, door contacts and sounders throughout the site. The master control panel was manufactured by Honeywell Security. Honeywell manufacture leading edge sensing technologies and the motion detectors will maximise intruder detection while diminishing false alarms.
The whole system was installed to BS5839 Classification L1. This classification includes automatic fire detection in all rooms, on all escape routes and in all voids over 800mm in height.
These installations are currently under Britannia Fire & Security’s 1 year warranty programme.
